We love timeless pieces here at Nothing to Wear (because it means you’ll always have something to wear huh?) but we also think it’s fun and current to embrace some of the high street catwalk pieces – which take current trends from the catwalk and make them slightly more relaistic. So we have picked out a few WEARABLE catwalk styles from the Spring Summer collections, and found them on the online high street. This will keep you current and fully on trend. Oh, and being on the highstreet means they won’t break the bank. You know that’s crucial to us.. and you all too.
High street takes on catwalk style – 6 ways to rock the catwalk
A front ruffle
As it is the anniversary of Shakespeare – this seems a timely trend. The SS16 catwalk was full of ruffles with McQueen producing theatrical dresses with huge ruffles. Of course, we’re talking about how to wear this stuff every day, and for that I’d recommend the ruffle front blouse – it is great for a smart work look or you can wear with jeans. I would say as a caveat it’s not great for the big busted lady – but hey – if you like it and have big boobs, you know our view – wear what you like. We like this pink number from Laura Ashley.
A soft trench
Trench coats will never go out of style. This season’s take on the classic trench is a softer style. They go with everything – from pretty summer dresses to jeans and a breton top. Look super stylish all season.
These shoes are big this summer and with good reason. Comfy, stylish and go with everything? What is not to love. Love these navy ones from m&s.
A slip dress
Slips were everwhere on the SS16 catwalk. You don’t want to look like you’re wearing your nightie of course – so we’d say stick to a navy or black knee-length style. I’ve got this fabulous navy Lucy dress from Hush which I’m currently wearing with my denim jacket for spring casual chic.
A new and stylish bag is a great way to update your look and hit the season’s trend. Bling was all the rage this season, so we are going as ornate as we can find. This fun one from Marks and Spencer would go with anything.
Potentially the skirt shape of the summer – what a claim – wrap skirts are flattering and easy to wear and that makes them a winner in our book. Marks and Spencer have come up trumps with this fun print wrap skirt – and under thirty quid.
So that’s our take on high street catwalk looks. Happy shopping.
